The Ferry Street Garden is a project of the North End Action Team in Middletown, CT and supported by members of the Middletown Urban Gardens group at Wesleyan University. It is a continuous work in progress and was begun in the Spring of 2012. This garden in in the works to become a space for community development in Middletown’s North End, and has received funding through Wesleyan University’s Green Fund and grants applied for through the North End Action Team.
The soil cannot be used for growing produce due to its heavy lead content, so it has been sheet mulched and raised beds have been placed over the mulch with extra protective barriers underneath each bed.
